In the case of the Annunciation School shooting, the shooter's destruction was minimized because the church doors were locked. School Building Codes address numerous areas and can vary by locality. While this document cannot summarize all of the issues, schools do need security cameras, access control systems, and emergency communication systems. Safety design can be a complex and expensive undertaking, but worthwhile in the end.
